MnDOT owns hundreds of stormwater ponds across the state. Each year, routine maintenance occurs on select ponds to repair damage to infrastructure, remove accumulated sediment and overgrown vegetation. MnDOT directly selected RANI to prepare construction plans for the maintenance of 25 ponds spread over 16 different sites throughout the Twin Cities area.

Stormwater ponds are designed with specific requirements to ensure the water quality goals of MnDOT are achieved while protecting the lakes, rivers and streams of Minnesota. Rani provided engineering design services to restore all stormwater ponds to their original design.

Professional services included:

• Inspecting all stormwater ponds to determine extent of sediment, brush, and tree removal required
• Repairing of inlet pipes and outlet structures
• Hydraulic modeling of modified outlet structures
• Developing detailed construction plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
• Developing a traffic management plan where necessary
• Coordinating with all utilities affected by the project to resolve issues during design and construction
