Susan Park Rani was among 43 delegates from Minnesota to participate in Gov. Mark Dayton’s trade mission to China in June.
The focus of the mission was “to strengthen the current relationships and to build new ones” with the state’s No. 2 trade partner, Bob Hume, Dayton’s spokesman, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Rani Engineering, which is growing in rail signal engineering, is interested in learning more about China’s railway industry and technology, one of that country’s top areas of growth. By the end of 2011, China had a total of 91,000 kilometers of railway (56,544 miles) used for freight and passenger transit – making it second in the world in terms of length.
Among cities visited during the 10-day mission were Beijing, Shanghai and Xian.
