Position Title: Senior Engineer (Transportation/Roadway)

Job Summary

This individual will work with our transportation team, leading all or parts of design projects, providing direction to staff, and meeting project schedules and budgets.  The main focus of the role will be on transportation and roadway engineering projects.  They will be expected to adhere to the highest communication standards with external clients and internal team members.  They will serve as an ambassador of Rani in all professional settings.  The right person will take a leadership role while collaborating with other PEs, EITs, and CAD technicians.  The ideal candidate has quality experience with design and plan creation of the various components of MnDOT or similar roadway projects.

Future Opportunities

This position, for the right person, could lead to other challenging opportunities resulting in managing complex projects and teams.  A Project Manager role may be a possibility, either immediately or in the future, depending on the candidate’s experience.  An expansion of duties could include securing new work from potential clients and/or supervisory duties.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead design work on roadway projects for DOTs, counties, and cities
  • Lead preparation of construction plans and reports
  • Write construction specifications and prepare cost estimates
  • Participate in preparing proposals and fee estimates
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to team members
  • Review work of team members to ensure quality
  • Written and verbal communication for team members and clients
  • Adhere to and manage project schedules and budgets
  • Review and approve shop drawings
  • Serve as a representative for Rani at industry events and clients meetings
  • Collaborate with other administrative staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 8 to 15 years of professional experience
  • Familiarity with MnDOT design standards
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Experience with GEOPAK and Corridor Modeler, preferred
  • Exemplary verbal and written skills in a professional setting
  • Ability to immediately work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis
