The project involved the replacement of the aging Lowry Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi River. The original bridge was grated, and precipitation fell directly into the Mississippi River with no capture or treatment.The proposed bridge was designed to capture stormwater and route it to stormwater treatment devices.

Rani Engineering provided preliminary water resources design services:

  • Evaluating changes to the existing project area drainage patterns caused by the construction of the roadway project
  • Placing bridge scuppers as required to meet spread criteria
  • Routing, sizing, and modeling proposed storm sewer using GeoPAK
  • Sizing stormwater treatment alternatives using HydroCAD, including ponds and subsurface infiltration
  • Identifying drainage and construction easements and permanent right of way needed for drainage
  • Preparing a Preliminary Water Resources Technical Memo and corresponding figures
